Towing Issues: car towed now gear shift messed up, shift linkage, repo company

Richard i hope you can help me...
my car was repo from my apt parking lot. when i went to retrieve it i had several problems. I could not get it out of park. I finally got it out of park with some trouble and my gears are all messed up. when i am in reverse i am in neutral when i go to drive its it the 2nd gear. they say they did nothing wrong. secondly they ransacked my car. I had movies stolen out of it. they went through my trunk and opened my printer and went through a bag of clothes. I had just taken my car to a dealer to get work done they went over my car totally and there was nothing wrong with my gears. I need some advice. thanks kim

well the repo company sounds like they disconnected the shift linkage (its an automatic correct?) and did not get it exactly back in the right places... It happens and is common... Its just an adjustment..

Now they are supposed to protect your property when in their control, and they have to inventory the vehicle and property. So they go though the vehicle... But like anything at all, sometimes you run into dishonest people who work for the companies..

I would be talking to the finance company, as they were the ones who authorized it to be picked up and as such if their is a problem they would have "more weight and power" then you do...
