Towing Issues: towing someone elses car, torrington connecticut, tow company

Question
I am a landlord and in Torrington Connecticut starting nov. 1 we have a parking ban on the streets. My tenants son was told not to park in the driveway because there is no room and their lease allows them only 2 viechiles. So i want to know if i can have it towed and if so do I have to pay for it or can it be at owners expense.

Answer
Oh my a street parking ban for snow removal I bet.

Now if your lease agreement with them says what is legal they should follow it.. But we all know how we love our vehicles and have to have one (or more) for everyone.

Now as to the towing issue, I would discuss it with them before you do anything like towing, as they might be able to solve this issue before it becomes a big mess..

But in a nut shell, you as the property owner do have the right to have vehicles removed (By law and lawfully done) which are in violation...

You should not have to pay for this service, but in some cases the tow company (this is usually a abandoned vehicle policy here) would require you to pay for the removal fees and if and when the vehicle is picked up and paid for you would be refunded the fees you paid.

Also I would check with the local police about having the vehicle towed as I do know in some areas the police have to order it towed from private property (this is usually a city ordinance in a city by city case and its not really normal)

Plus it is best to have their advise on the issue as the would most likely get dragged into this issue after it was towed.. Never hurts to give a bit of warning to all people concerned.
