Towing Issues: illegal tow, expired registration, unlicensed vehicles

My car was towed at my apartment for expired registration.  The signs posted are hardly visable I did not know who towed the car the office was closed for the weekend, even the police were called and told me they could not tow my car but the apartment say the lease says they can I didn't sign the lease my son did.

Well most all apartments have provisions in leases as to unlicensed vehicles.. Be it your sons apartment or yours it does not matter...  A vehicle with expired tags is not drivable LEGALLY and is therefore considered trespassing..

Now depending on what City and State you are in, the laws regarding the signs could be different... Some areas you do not need any signs, some are real specific.   It is a part of the answer you kind of left out.  

But bottom line is remember the apartment complex is private property and even though you pay to live there you are still subject to the rules and regulations the owner - manager has in place.
