Towing Issues: Car Towed in PG county, license plate tags, prince george county

Question
What are the rates a TOW company is supposed to charge for towing from a residential parking lot? in my parking lot the cars are always towed in the wee hours of the morning, but some residents who retrieve their cars that day is charged $100.00 others are charged $150.00 for the same time period.   Also, is it legal, to tow a car from a residential lot for not having a DC inspection sticker?  The car had the complex's parking tag displayed.  The complex is in Temple Hills, MD - PG county

Answer
Well, I have been following some proposed changes in laws up there in Maryland, they were trying to get some more regulations regarding pricing, signing requirements, and other issues.

BUT they also ran into big huge problems as some of them were way to crazy to try and "FORCE DOWN THE THROAT OF TOWERS"...

Granted almost everyone thinks that any amount collected for the tow is way to much and as such lawmakers (who like to try and look good for votes) try to make "knee jerk" laws.. That is the tow truck driver part of me answering that..

As to the fees, I have no idea on that part of it as towers are private business's unlike tax payer supported operations like fire and police departments... That was the big problem with the proposed laws as they wanted to set rates to ones that were 15 years behind the times... (do you want to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment and operate at a loss)..

Inspection stickers,  well that is an area I am not sure of the answers, but if they are like license plate tags, then if its expired then its not a legal vehicle to be on the road...

As I said before I do know that the Prince George county area has lots of issues with towing of vehicles... That does not help as there is also a lot of press on the issue also, as newspapers like to sell news and most reporting on towing problems are one sided as they do not usually cover the fact that someone (the vehicle driver) did something illegal by parking where they did...

I would suggest that a search of the Internet with the county listed with towing issues or something like that.
I did research a bit and I see lots of information but since I am not totally familiar with the area (you know what area and city you are in) that you will find more information....

Also if you want to talk to some more familiar people in the state, there is a Maryland Towing Association of which might provide a contact person to answer your specific questions...
