QuestionI have and 04 VW beetle that was parked in a car port,the car was in park and e-break was pulled. the car was pulled out and draged about 25 yards. Now every time I start the car it sounds like a lawn mower. and when I accelerate it dose the same noise. I never had anything like this before. I'm afarid to drive the car.
AnswerWhile towing is my area of expertise, I have a problem answering this question..
First of all the VW is a front wheel drive vehicle, and I am taking it that you were nosed in and it was towed for (illegal parking??)
OK, just guessing there. But anyway, the issue of the vehicle "sounding like a lawn mower" when you start the vehicle and when you accelerate has me confused..
The starter does not turn the transmission but it does spin the flywheel which is attached to the transmission... But starting the vehicle will cause different actions than when driving it...
I really can not provide an answer here as I really can not "HEAR THE VEHICLE"...
My best advise is to take it to a mechanic and tell him its making funny noises starting and also when accelerating ... Do not mention the towing of it, see if he can find something that would be wrong and then ask them how it could of been caused...
I am not trying to protect the tow company, but it's a better idea to see if someone can tell you what happened that does not have all the clues... after that you should have a better idea of what direction to go to repair it...
Sorry if it seems like a cop out on answers but its real hard to diagnosis SOUNDS..
