Towing Issues: car towed from my own parking spot..., milwaukie oregon, lease contracts

Question
Hi,
Can an apartment complex tow a car out of your spot because it didn't have a sticker? I got a new car about 3 weeks ago and didn't put a new sticker on the window, this morning it was towed out of my parking spot by the apartment complex.  They gave me no notice and I had to pay $250.00 to get it back.  By law don't the complex have to contact you to tell you to get a new sticker for the car?  Maybe 24hrs notice?  This happened in Milwaukie Oregon.  Thanks so much...

Answer
AAAHhh  sorry to hear about the car being towed...  Notice to the vehicle owner, sure that does seem to be good ideas but at times its not practical...

Generally in your rental or lease contracts you will have provisions for the parking issues... If you knew you needed a permit to park then you should of done what was needed quickly so that you did not get towed...

3 weeks is a bit to long to wait to follow the laws... Now I am not sure if the management has a contract with a tow company to "patrol" the lot or they called the tow company themselves..

This is one issue you might check into, as the tow company might of left it there for a few days since it had new vehicle tags on it. (just my thought)
