QuestionI have a 2003 Jeep Liberty 4x4 with the 3.7L v6 and an automatic transmission. I was curious if any parts manufactures make transmission shift kits or electronic re-programers for this vehical. I frequently tow a 3,000lb boat and no matter how fast i drive the liberty always "hunts" for gears. It'll bog, double shift, over-rev, and seems like it can never find the happy medium even on the smallest of grades. Thanks
AnswerI don't have any direct knowledge of the mods you want. I recommend you contact transmission shops in your area, most can put in shift kits, but I don't know if they will do what you want.
I also recommend you join some of the many Jeep clubs on the internet. Buy a copy of Hemmings Motor News for info on jeep clubs, or search through their web site.
For most transmissions, towing anything over much weight at all, you should tow OUT of overdrive, and this usually keeps the transmission cooler and stops that hunting so much. Check your owners manual for towing recommendations.
