Towing Issues: towing a bug with a cherokee, jeep cherokee, vw bug

I am planning to tow a 1970 vw bug from colorado to pennsylvania with my jeep Cherokee. It does not have a towing package, do you think this would be alright, and also do i need to have the bug registered and insured, or does my jeep insurance cover it since im towing it

well the jeep should handle it, as long as you keep in mind that you will have to pay more attention to gauges and such.. Keep tabs on the oil , transmission fluid levels and water when on the trip...  

Now the fact the bug has no tags, that might not be a problem, but hard to really say what an officer might do.. I would consider moving the vehicle on a car trailer where it is all the way off the ground..  That might beat a few problems with unlicensed vehicles if any are encountered.
