Towing Issues: TOW LAWS, mileage fee, storage fee

I WAS PARK IN MY TRAILER PARK AT A FRIENDS HOUSE IN FRONT OF A DUMPSTER ON A SUNDAY.  MY CAR WAS TOWED AND I WAS CHARGED 420$ AND GOT THE CAR OUT OF THE YARD WITHIN LESS THAN AN HOUR OF IT GETTING TOWED OF THE PROPERTY.  I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER TOW DRIVERS AAND THEY ALL AGREED THAT THIS IS ROBBERY.  IS THIS COST LAWFUL?

Towing services are private businesses that except for a few cities are not regulated in what they can charge...

However the price you said (420) also should include the basic towing fee, mileage fee, special towing equipment used, storage fee (yeah even for an hour), after hours release fees (which could be up to 1/2 the basic towing fee)


Bottom line, is that you blew it when you parked in  front of the dumpster and that is why you got towed... The fee is also supposed to kind of remind you to not violate the law like a traffic ticket does..
