Towing Issues: Pet in towed car?, google search, suitable cage

Question
We're moving from Philadelphia to Fort Lauderdale and wondering if there are any regulations against letting our dog ride in the car we'll be towing from our moving truck.  I don't know if this falls into your area of expertise or not, but I thought I would try.  I can't seem to find any information elsewhere.  Thanks!

Answer
First, I won't claim to be an expert in animal law.

A quick google search didn't come up with anything.

I would recommend that you call a local State Police or Secretary of State office for your state.

I would also recommend that you take care to make sure that the temperature in the vehicle stays comfortable for the animal, and I would recommend the animal be in a suitable cage or structure that is tied down so that in an accident it won't go flying.

But the most compelling reason I can think of to NOT do this is that you won't be able to tell if the animal is in distress or freaking out (whatever dogs do when upset).  If you have room in the towed vehicle for the dog and cage, then you could just as easily put the stuff that is in the towing vehicle in the towed vehicle and make room in the towing vehicle for the pet.

Again, I am not a legal expert, and maybe you could find a legal expert on this site that could give you a better answer.
