Towing Issues: Towed for blocking driveway, small claims court, red zone

Question
This happened in Los Angeles. I parked my car overlapping into the red zone by a foot. In no way was I blocking the driveway to a nearby driving complex. My car was towed and I received a fine for parking in a red zone. I understand the ticket but I do not understand why my car was towed if I wasn't blocking the driveway. The description on the tow receipt says red zone and blocking 1/3rd driveway. That of course is a lie. What can I do about this?

Thanks

Answer
aahhhh I am guessing it was on the street... That is a big difference in things than when on private property...

Now if it was ordered towed by the police then you will not have much luck...

Now I hate to say it but a lot of time if you are even partially into the red zone its a tow offense.. (kind of like being almost pregnant)  You are in violation if any part is blocking... Now the fact that you think someone could get in or out without hitting your vehicle is not a factor.. It goes to safety and viability..

Now if you want to fight it, then you have a few options..
If the police issued the ticket and had you towed you can contest the ticket in court.  Simple enough... Now the towing fee if it was towed under order of the police department should be at the rates the police have set. (some areas do not have set rates though)

If it was towed off private property by a property owner or manager you can talk to they and see what kind of agreement you can reach.  If you do not have success then there is always the Small Claims Court route..
