Towing Issues: towing question, roofing company, honest mistake

Question
I live in Kalamazoo MI, Lived at my apt for 4 years now. They do have a parking for visitors, which means you have to go to the office and get a pass for them to place in there window. My daughter stopped over one day to visit and I went and got her a parking pass. I WATCHED her put it in here window. 2 hours later she went to run to the store her car was gone!!! I called the towing company and told them there was a pass in it, they said there wasn't. When we got down there the pass was in the in car but laying on the floor board under other papers . I know they can get into a car they have lock out kits. We called the police but they told us theres nothing they can do.The officer told us the drivers are sneaky and so is the owner. I did write to the B.B.B.  I'm not sure if that will help or not. I don't know what else to do. The towing company is very rude on the phone also, they hang up on you. I've looked online about them where people leave messages about them and they have nothing but negative feed back on them. My question is is there someone we should call to find out what we can do about this company stealing your car when you have a pass in the window ? I talked to my manager where I live , She dons seem to care. Thank you for time. Any advice would be helpful.

Answer
Well, this does sound bad for the towing company if indeed its true.

Granted there are bad people and companies all over the world, be it a tow company, roofing company or what ever.

Now for this issue, it would appear that if this is true then someone entered the vehicle to move or hide the parking pass.

Now its not ethical for what happened, but proving it is going to be hard. And management of complexes do not have knowledge at times of what happens since in some places the towing service is allowed to drive though the lots to look for violations. It could be that they did make an honest mistake and towed the vehicle and then found the permit (it does happen) but depending on the people who knows what will happen.

As to the BBB, I hate to say it but they are a big joke.  They take complaints and try to get things corrected but there are no real teeth to force action by the offending company.
Also there are always complaints about service, but have you ever seen a site where there are good things said about companies ?

Best answer as to action to take, is talk to the towing service, see if they will do anything.  If not then you always have the small claim court route.
