Towing Issues: Used Car purchase, hyundai santa fe, home folks

Question
I am in the market for a used car/suv.  I found a Hyundai Santa Fe that I really like.  The salesperson said it was used by motor home folks that towed it.  My question is does this accumulate miles on the drive train if the wheels were down?  The tachometer has 34,000, how do I know if it has many more than that from being towed.  My friend said if it isn't running then nothing gets lubricated and it is tough on the drive train.

Answer
If towed properly, there should be very little extra wear.  There will be more miles on the axles/bearings than indicated by the Odometer though, maybe quite a few more, but this should not be a big concern.  These items get lubricated if the engine is turning or not.  The transmission transfer case should have been in neutral (that is why a lot of stuff towed behind campers have old-fashioned 4WD transfer cases) and there should have been little wear on the transmission and engine.

Have it checked out by a good mechanic.
