Towing Issues: towing a 97 Toyota Corolla with auto while idling, tow dollies, toyota corolla

Question
Hi, we have a specialized circumstance where we may need to tow an automatic transmission 1997 toyota corolla 4 down.  Will leaving the engine idling on this car provide adequate lubrication to protect the tranny, either in neutral or drive?  I can devise an a remote alarm to monitor the engine running, and have idled this car for hours to test the long term idle, which appears bullet proof. thanks.  trading the car and tow dollies or trailers are really not practical in this circumstance. thanks. The real question is technical:is the tranny lubricated while idling?  If overheating is the issue, I can also attach a remote temp sensor on the transmission. thanks.

Answer
Jerry,

I doubt that the idling engine will allow the transmission enough fluid circulation to protect it while being towed.  It very well may, but there is no chance of me putting my reputation on the line to tell you to go ahead and do it.

I'm not sure what type of circumstance this could possibly be, other than shooting a moving driver shot in a film, but that's why trailers are used.

I just don't see this having a good outcome,
