Towing Issues: towing, fog light, tow company

Question
I was towed yesterday by a neighbor apartment building's management
company. I was parked on on my own rental property (not blocking/
interfering etc. to the adjacent property).

I was charged $250 for impound fees. I also was forced to miss 1/2 days
work because of this.

I double checked with the owner of my building who assured me that
the management company has no rights over the building I live in.

Further, my car damaged (the passenger window was broken as well as the
fog light in the front). I called the police when I returned from the impound
lot to report the damage. The police said it's a civil issue at this point and
there is nothing they can do.

While on the phone with me, the police called the tow company. The tow
company said they have photographs of my car illegally parked. I have been
unable to get the tow company to show said pictures.

Any ideas of what I can do to recoup the money/ lost wages/ etc. ?

Answer
The only suggestion I can give you now is to go to my Blog, sftow.blogspot.com and follow the guidelines there. I admit there is a lot of reading but it sounds like you were ripped off by someone who was just looking for a vehicle to tow. I hope you live in California, but even if you don't I believe this would be a good starting place for you. Good Luck
