Towing Issues: Is this illegal, case laws, tows

Question
I was parked in 7/11 and was gone for maybe an hour.  They towed my car for saying the alarm went off.  That means someone must have hit it. A clerk signed for it not the proprity manager and there are two parking lots and the one i was in there wasn't a sign at all.  I also was a customer to the store.

Answer
Wow, this sounds good...  your alarm went off and you did not hear it...

Now shared lots are always a problem area in dealing with tows, but signs are not always needed in some cities... It all depends on the laws where you are.

A lot of towing contracts have provisions where on duty clerks can have vehicles towed. And that is what it sounds like happened...

As to you being a customer of the store? I am wondering what store.. The 7-11 which ordered the tow? Hard to spend an hour in there.. Or some other store that is far removed from where you were parked....

It sounds legal to me, but then it also depends on where you were located at city wise for rules and regulations to apply to your case.  Laws are different in California than in South Carolina or North Dakota.
