Towing Issues: Towing, home owner associations, townhouse apartment

Question
I live in a townhouse apartment area where there is a covered garage in Texas. I came home and saw the note that my husband found on our truck wanting to tow the truck if the registration is not renewed. Can they do that if it's on my property even thought I live in a townhouse?

Answer
Well, towing laws vary between Citys and States, but general rules if the vehicle is not licensed and current then its considered abandoned or disabled and not drivable.

Some Townhouses, Condos, and other home owner associations have provisions in the lease requiring vehicles to be operable ...

It may run and drive, but if its not licenced and has current tags then its subject to towing ..

Best option is to check with the management of the complex and see what they say.  They are usually the people who order the tows or specify the requirements for towing  if the lot is a " PATROL " lot (where the towing service has list of rules that have to be enforced )

Of course the best answer is to get the registration renewed and avoid problems ..
