Towing Issues: Regulating towing fees?, towing companies, tows

Outside of police/city/state tows.  Is there or have there been any attempts to regulate fees issued by towing companies?  (I have read of fees reaching up to $859.00 for as little as 4 days of storage) ...

Please let me know where you are located, and perhaps I can direct you to someone who can better answer your question. To my knowledge, at least in California, towing operators' fees are set and cannot be above what is considered reasonable and fair to the general public. I hope this helps.
