Towing Issues: 2004 Dodge Ram Towing problem, dodge ram 1500, transmission shops

Question
I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi Quad Cab with 6ft box. I recently bought a RV with a curb weight of aprox 3700 lbs. The Ram specs. say it can tow up to 8200 lbs. My problem is that when driving up a slight incling in the road the trans goes in and out of overdrive every three to four seconds. I called the servicing dealer and they recomended not pushing in the tow/haul button on the shifter. This did not help. I then schedualed a service apointment and they checked all the computers in the vehical, everthing checked fine. They stated that the transmision still will have the overdrive feature when tow/haul button is on, and what is happening is it's not sure weather to be in over d or not.

Answer
WOW  good question, I really have no idea what to suggest here.

If you have went to the dealer and they say things are normal and working properly , the one test you might do is to actually see if they can hook the computer up and send a tech with you when you are driving with the trailer on.  It might show up then what is happening ..Is there another Dodge dealer close to you , they might be able to help.

You might also consider checking with a few regular transmission shops and see if they have any information about what is possibly happening

You might just be right on the area where the computers tell the transmission to shift but its so close to the limit that it might be confused.

Good luck and let me know what you find out..
