Towing Issues: Buying a car thats been towed behind motorhome, cv joints, mechanic check

Question
I am looking at buying a 2002 Honda CRV.  It has a front tow hitch, and there is no way of knowing how many miles it has been towed behind a motorhome.  THe car has 43K miles on it, but I am wondering about the potential damage to the axles/CV joints etc. from long haul towing.  It is a front wheel drive transmission.
What should I be looking for in terms of wear?
Thanks,
LCM

Answer
I would have an independant mechanic check out any car I planned to buy.

I have seen cars that have been towed more that 300,000 kms with very little wear.  Towing a car does not put any load on the axles and CV joints.  When you drive the car, the engine is applying torque to the running gear.  When the car is being towed, the only torque on these pieces is the force needed to accelerate themselves.

Good luck,
