Towing Issues: vehicle to tow boat, cajun fish, fish and ski boat

I have a 17' Cajun fish and ski boat.  Don't know the weight. How do I find out the weight?  I want to purchase a used pick up or SUV to pull the boat. something on the smaller side, not a suburban or escalade.  What do you recomend?  whatshould the engine size be?

Well,  hard to say,  some of it depends on the size of the engine that the boat has.

You can take the boat and trailer to a truck stop and weight it if you can.   I looked around and did not find any specs on the boat. It appears to have been made and marketed in the late 70's to the late 80's

 Now as to a tow vehicle,  I am thinking from what I can see though, that a 1/2 ton pickup would work.
