Toyota Repair: 2000 solara 2.2L code P0420 code

Question
Read an article about a Toyota issued service bulletin regarding the subject code and would like to know if it applies to my 2000 Solara vin#2T1CG22P6YC305289 which has 182,000 miles on it.

There is also a P0330 code showing. Except for the check engine light this Solara runs very well and idles very smoothly when stopped.

Answer
Hello, I am not aware of a service bulletin for this particular year Solara, in any case the 420 is specific to cat converter malfunction, the front converter directly after the exhaust manifold should be replaced, the P0330 is a knock sensor code and can be caused by the converter, in turn the cat converter can be damaged due to extended driving with an engine misfire or or other condition that can affect air fuel ratio mixtures in which case there should be other codes as well, my suggestion would be since the engie seems to run normally, is to replace the converter and go from there.
