Toyota Repair: heater resistor, heater blower resistor, air ducting

Question
I would take a picture of that heater resistor if you have one, and a pic of it's location in the truck - 1988 toyota 4*4 v6 pickup.
I could smell electrical burning for a day or so before my fan failed. I am hoping it could be just the resistor. If the resistor fails the fan would fail to come on at all settings correct? or the max setting would still work?
Thanks very much, I really dont want to have to replace the blower.

Answer
The heater blower resistor is located in the air ducting below the glove box, I don't have apicture for one this far back, if the resistor is the problem then the fan would work on high speed only, keep in mind that a blower motor that draws too much current can burn the resistor out.
