it won't shift into 2nd, 4th or reverse. is there a cable to adjust. My logic says a cable adjustment would affect all gears, as would a clutch problem. thinking it is syncros.

There is a shift selector cable that connects to the shifter and connects to the transmission under the hood, the cable is not adjustable. If it shifts into first gear while the engine is running without grinding then the clutch is not the problem, can you put the shifter in the other positions with the engine off or does the shifter not even move into the other gears?
