Toyota Repair: 1998 toyota avalon 3.0 v-6, toyota avalon, wire harness

Question
i have a no start problem . have checked ign.it is firing ok and on time. fuel pressure is ok . my question is the fuel injector harness plugs have 12 volts + on both sides of each injector plug and no pulse on any injector. please help thank you

Answer
Hello, with the key on there is only supposed to be voltage to one wire of the injector connector, the other wire is connected to the ECM which turns the injector on/off at a fequency determined by various input signals to it. If you have voltage to both sides there is a short circuit that casuse the wire to have 12 volts, this could be caused by a problem with the computer (ECM), or a wiring problem. Check the voltages again by disconnecting the ECM connectors, if there is still voltage to both sides then it's not the ECM and most likely a short to another circuit in the wire harness, one side of the injector connector should be hot even with the ecm disconnected as it get's power as soon as the switch is on from the ignition system.
