Toyota Repair: toyota paseo starting problem, auto wrecker, toyota paseo

Question
i have a 94 Toyota Paso an automatic. the problem with it is every time i go to start it i have to crank it and crank it and it will eventually go but then if you let it sit and warm up it will stall and then you need to crank it all over again so you have to put it in gear and drive so it turns over and switches gears. i have replaced the distributor 2 times cause i thought the coil was getting to warm and burning out.. is there anyway to get it to not over heat? if that is the problem.. also i have replaced engine control modal and still have the problem.. so the next thing I'm thinking it is the throttle control switch but im not sure and finding a Paso at a auto wrecker is hard..so i could really use you help on what i should do

Answer
Hello, I would recommend that you check for a diagnostic code that may be in the ncomputer, you can do this yourself by locating the diagnostic check connector under the hood, look for a small box that says diagnostic on it, open the cover and locate the terminals TE1 and E1 and put a jumper wire between them, turn the key on and the check engine light will start blinking, the codes are two numbers so a code 14 would be one blink followed by four and so on, let me know if there are any found.
