Toyota Repair: oil consumption in2az-fe, desert temperatures, climate areas

Dear Mr. ted, i have a camry 2007 (2.4l)with manual transmission. it works 104000km.(15000km it is mine,about 6 months).i drive high rpm(3500-5900)and my car good respons. i useage toyota oil 20w50  sl in my engine, change oil and oil filter after 5000km, i  add 0.7quart(700cc) oil in my engine after this  distance,i want to know it is engine problem or not? if it  is natural of 2azfe engine , which viscosity and brand of oil engine is better? in my country (iran) the weather so diffrent in summer very hot and winter so cold...

Hello, normal oil consumption is about 1 liter per 1600 KM, I'm not familiar with what oil is recommended by toyota for your region so i would stay with the factory recommended oil, the 20w-50 seems a little high in viscosity but as I say Toyota has different recommendations for different climate areas. I live in the southwest US where desert temperatures in the summer can reach 115 degrees F, for this area toyota recommends 5w-20 or 10w-30 for year round use.
