Toyota Repair: oil benefits, oil filler cap, true advantages

I own a 2009 RAV 4 4 cyl with 35 k miles.I always use traditional oil.I reside in the Boston area.What are the true advantages, if any, of switching to an all synthetic oil on this SUV ? For example, does the alleged wear and tear reduction and gas mileage augmentation proffered by the manufacturer outweight the increased cost of synthetic oil? Thanks.

It's best to stay with the manufacturers recommendation, you'll find this in the owner's manual and imprinted on the oil filler cap, I believe this engine uses 5w-20 oil, and calls for oil and filter change at 5000 miles, synthetic oil makers claim in some cases every 7,000-10,000 miles.
