Isuzu Repair: excessive oil burning, isuzu rodeo ls, isuzu rodeo

Question
I have approximately 50,00 miles on my 2002 Isuzu Rodeo LS and have been burning 1 quart of oil every 500-600 miles.  There is no smoke coming from the exhaust and there are no detectable oil leaks anywhere.  Any ideas as to what could be going on?

Answer
Yes I do Gary. There is a defect in the oil compression rings on the piston that causes the oil to gum up and cause high oil consumption. The only remedy I know of is to do a thorough cleaning of your engine of carbon and EGR valve. SeaFoam works well or so does Berrymans carburetor cleaner. Just let me know if this is the route you want to go and we will get you oil-burning free okay?
