Toyota Repair: 2002 Toyota Camry, alternator test, alternator output

Question
QUESTION: My '02 Camry SE has never given me a day of trouble until yesterday. It would not start at all. There were a series of clicks, but it would not turn over. After getting a boost, I took it to have the battery tested. I was told the battery was bad, and had it replaced. Then it would start, but turned right back off. There were some issues with tightening the negative post to the terminal, but got that resolved. It was boosted off again, and I was able to get drive it long enough for a 2 min. drive home, but it cut off on the way there.

I had it towed to an independent mech. who said it looks like an electrical short. I asked was he sure it wasn't the alternator and he said it was not.

Is this common in this model? What could it be? What are my options?

ANSWER: No this is not common but it sounds to me that the alternator is not charging, did they do an alternator output test? If so what were the results? Voltage/amp readings, can you get those for me?

QUESTION: Sorry for the late response. The first person I took the car to didn't know what he was doing and reset my computer, so there was no change in the problem. Another guy looked at it and told me it was the Throttle Control Motor Lock.

Answer
That doesn't sound right, if it was the case the check engine light should stay on, can they do an alternator test, I just want to make sure that you don't have a problem with it. Is the check engine light staying on? A bad throttle control would make the check engine light turn on.
