Toyota Repair: 05 SR Hilux D4d sloppy gear stick, shift pattern, toyota dealer

Hi.. My 05 hilux SR D4d gear stick is really sloppy... It moves nearly all the way around the shift pattern when in and out of gears..... How is this fixed and is it easy to do?

This can be fixed by replacing the bushings inside the shift tower in most cases unless the shifter is broken off, the bushings are available at the toyota dealer. Remove the shift boot to get access to the shifter, push down on the round silver retainer and turn to the left, this will release the retainer and the shifter can be pulled out.
