Toyota Repair: CEL on 94 Corolla, obd ii scanner, jumper wire

Question
I just bought a '94 Corolla from the owner, car has about 146k on it and after driving it an hour or so the check engine light came on. It's passed inspection and seems to drive well.

I have an OBD II scanner but I think this car doesn't have an obd port. Can you tell me how to read the code on my car? Also it is loud when starting but then quiets down once warmed up. Is this normal or could it be a warning sign?

Answer
1994 is the year the change was made from OBD1 TO OBD2, IT MAY HAVE THE OBD2 PORT, LOOK FOR IT UNDER THE DASH BETWEEN THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH. If not, then you can get trouble codes under the hood from the diagnostic check connector, open the cover and locate terminals TE1 and E1 and with the key on put a jumper wire between them, the check engine light will flash a code or two, a code 25 would be two blinks then five and so on.
