Toyota Repair: 95 toyota 4 runner 3.0, water coolant, head gaskets

Question
QUESTION: ok on the front of the block on the drivers side is a part that mounts to the block has a hose coming from the side of the block to it then has another hose going out but someone has plugged it off dont know where it goes but water runs into this thing thought it might be important to hook it back up.

ANSWER: That is an auxiliary oil cooler that was part of the towing package, one hose goes back to an additional cooler located on the right side near the end of the transmission, the other hose goes to the water pump so water/coolant can circulate through the cooler, some 4 runners did not have this extra cooler only the ones that had the tow package, the most likely reason that it was blocked off is that the water pump was replaced and it didn't have the pipe that connects to the cooler.

QUESTION: ok so why is the hose coming from the side of the block into this auxiliary guess i should look for a blocked off cooler at the transmission.they must of been hauling a big load cause it blew the head gaskets and must have a crack inside the block.best to get water pump and a oil pump i would think also. Also the knock sensor was not hooked up but i dont know where to hook it cause i cant find the hook up.

Answer
Yes there must be a hose that they blocked off, the knock sensor is located under the intake manifold on this engine, there should be a knock snesor connector coming up from a wire under the manifold and there should be a wire with a connector coming out of the engine wire harness on top near the left(driver's side) valve cover.
