Toyota Repair: 1991 Toyota Tercel, toyota tercel, fuse box

Question
My brother has a 1991 Tercel.  He accidently put the battery in backwards.  When he hooked up the battery there was a small flash.  After putting the battery in correctly the car won't start.  Won't start, no lights, nothing, completely dead.  Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you,
Eileen

Answer
Open the hood and locate the fuse/relay box on the left side near the battery, open the cover and locate the 100Amp alternator fuse, check it to see if it has blown, if so it needs to be replaced. This fuse is bolted in with two small bolts inside the fuse box and the fuse box will have to be removed and opened on the bottom to get to the bolts.
