Toyota Repair: Toyota corona 1993 engine no. 3SFE, interference engine, toyota corona

Question
hello there...can you please tell me if my engine is an interference or non-interference engine?? I drove my car down the road yesterday and as i pulled out of my street to the main road, the gas pedal seemed to feel tight and then the car started to slow down. I tried to come back home but before i could make it my car slowly came to the point of stopping!! a few people I have asked have said it sounds like my cambelt has gone..I have no clue on anything car related..so ive been on line all day as nothing here is open due to the holidays..have tried to take the cambelt cover off to just check if it has..but cant seem to get it off yet..there was no awful noises when this happened nor was there any sudden bangs or any indication my engine was affected..it just slowly stopped!!

Answer
It's a non-interference engine so even if the timing belt breaks there is no engine damage, it sounds like it didn't break but may have slipped on the timing gears due to wear. To get the top part of the front cover off you have to remove the valve cover first.
