Toyota Repair: 2005 Toyota Corrolla Engine Problem, 2005 toyota corrolla, low oil pressure

My Son has a 2005 Toyota corolla that has 265,000 miles on the engine.  This morning when he went to go to school - he started up the car - got a engine light that came on -the engine started shuddering/shaking and then he smelled a burning smell.  Trying to figure out what to do next?

Without more info I can't give you an educated guess.
Did the coolant level go down?  Did the oil level go up or down?  Was there a puddle underneath the car?  Did the oil pressue guage/light indicate low oil pressure?
