Toyota Repair: Set Timing, intake hose, throttle body

Question
Hi Ted
How do you set the timing on 2003 Camry LE, 4 cyl, engine code is 2AZ-FE.

Have had no problems prior to now but after I replaced the battery(got to be a coincidence), the timing is off slightly. Tach sitting on about 300 rpm, was about 400-500. Hard to tell exactly because of the way guage is marked. It’s bad enough that everything vibrates in the interior when idle in drive, especially when turn on A/C. No vibrations before. Compression good, no other problems. Wondering if I can do myself instead of taking it in. Need any special tools? Thanks so much. Don

Answer
What you can try doing at this time is to remove the intake hose from the throttle body and clean the inside of the throttle body using a brush and some spray intake cleaner, then go and drive the car normally for about 15 minutes, the idle should go back to normal.
