Toyota Repair: starter removal, toyota 4runner, haynes manual

Can you tell me the procedure for replacing the starter on a 1997 Toyota 4runner, limited edition.  I've read everything from removing the transmission pan to disconnecting brake lines. It seems difficult to remove after its unbolted. Any expertise you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Buy a HAYNES manual for this car.
You do not need to remove the transmission pan or disconnect the brake lines.
It is difficult to remove the starter, sometimes you have to lift the starter up out of the engine compartment.
Make sure you disconnect the battery before you remove the starter to avoid electrical shock.
