Toyota Repair: 1994 3.0 4runner, vacuum lines, intake leak

Question
I replaced the egr valve cleaned the intake tube replaced several vacuum lines and the truck ran good until I let it sit for awhile, now when you restart it,it won't idle. my son bought this truck and it didn't pass emissions, any ideas?

Answer
The egr valve may be staying open because some hoses may be switched or disconnected, try removing the vacuum hose from the egr valve and see if it idles, if that's not it there may be an intake leak on the same side where all the hoses go, recheck all the hoses that were disconnected, there is a hose diagram on the label under the hood.  One question, why was the egr valve replaced in the first place, was the check engine light on?
