Toyota Repair: 2001 TOYOTA TACOMA IGNITION, release pin, toyota tacoma

Question
I HAVE A 2001 TOYOTA TACOMA, 2WD, 3.4L MOTOR, 4 DOOR.  THE IGNITION IS WORN.  ONE NEW KEY WILL BARELY WORK.  THE KEY IT CAME WITH WILL ONLY WORK ON ONE SIDE.  HOW HARD IS IT TO CHANGE OUT THE IGNITION SWITCH ON THE STEERING COLUMN.

THANKS, JOE

Answer
It's not hard to do if the key can be put in to the ACC position, when in this position the release pin on the bottom of the lock housing can be pushed in releasing the lock cylinder from the housing then the new cylinder is just pushed in to the opening with the key in the ACC position. You may have to remove some of the plastic covers around the steering column.
