Toyota Repair: Camry brake issue, cruise control, floor model

Question
No obvious cause for the problem.  Start engine, depress brake, and shift will not allow shifting from park (mid-consul on floor model). Manual gives a work-around involving removing a tiny platic cover, inserting finger to release shift lever, shifting to neutral and then starting the engine.  THEN later...on the freeway, using cruise control, when pressing the brake pedal to disengage the CC, no recognition of the brake pedal...did not disengage the CC.

Answer
There is a switch by the brake pedal that is not working.  This switch sends a signal to other systems letting them know that the brake has been depressed (e.g. transmission, cruise control, brake lights, etc.)  Fix this switch and it will fix your problem.

Hope this helps.
