Toyota Repair: Thermostat 95 Toyota Corolla dx, 10mm nuts, toyota corolla

I'm having trouble locating the thermostat on my 95 Toyota Corolla Dx.I followed some instructions I found to remove it and bought a new thermostat but it doesn't fit where I removed the so called thermostat.The instructions said "end of the main hose that leads to the engine from the radiator".The new thermostat wouldn't fit because where I removed it from it had a square shape.Told a Auto Parts store and they told me that wasn't the thermostat.Please help me locate the thermostat

Follow the top radiator hose to the engine , it will connect to the thermostat housing, the housing has an electrical connector on it, remove it, temove the two 10mm nuts on the housing and pull on the hose to remove the housing, the thermostat is inside.
