Toyota Repair: Temp needle/overheat, coolant fluid, head gasket

Question
whole problem started when I thought my 93 toyota 4cyl pickup was overheating because the needle said so. i was having to put coolant in it every other day or so. Just spent about $1400 @ Goodyear on new tires, total front-end brake system replacement, and a bad idling situation that prevented my truck from staying on @ red lights, stop signs and what not. the needle would constantly stay near, but not in, the red-zone. They found that the big hose leading from the radiator had a pin-hole on the under side of it which leaked coolant and kept the level low in the radiator. runs like new now but i'm SCARED because the needle jumps from one side to the other. Goodyear says that the block test and the cap test revealed nothing wrong with head gasket. PLEASE help me

Answer
If you need keep adding the coolant to keep the correct coolant fluid level means the ening has coolant leaking problem.
1. check the truck on hoist see if find some coolant around hose, pipe, rad, engine block, etc
2. performed pressure test, see cooling system could hold 15 psi for 10 mins. if not , system has leak and coolant will pissing out.
3. check water pump gasket, usually pressure test will not reveal the leaking of water pump , you need remove timing belt cover to check the water pump see if it has leaking there.
Good luck !
