Toyota Repair: P0441, negative battery cable, fuse box

Question
Hello Ted,
I recently purchased a 1997 Rav4, it runs perfectly and has given me no problems. I took it through emissions where they took the gas cap off to do what they do and no more than a few hours later, the check engine light came on. We ran it through diagnostics and the P0441 code came up. If this is just a gas cap non-tightening error is there a way that this can be re-set without spending the $50.00 plus that the repair shop wants to charge? Thank you!

Answer
Yes the light will turn off with two ways: remove the negative battery cable for about ten seconds (this will erase all codes plus all memory functions of the computer, all radio preset stations etc will be lost) another way is to open the fuse box under the hood near the battery,  open it and locate the EFI fuse, remove the fuse for ten seconds, this will only erase the trouble codes. The fuse designations are inside the fuse cover, the EFI fuse is a blue 15amp fuse.
