Toyota Repair: 2001 Toyota Sienna, freon, drier

Question
Our air conditioner is not working so we guess it's out of freon. I bought a canister at CAP and the adapter doesn't work so they sold me a set of adapters and the package said fixs all cars. It still doesn't fit. Is they're a special adapter?

Answer
How do you know you are out of freon?  Does the A/C clutch engage when you turn the A/C on?  If the clutch isn't engaging, then your A/C fuse may be blown.  If the clutch does engage, does the A/C cycle on and off frequently?  If so, then you are probably low on freon.  Try to determine where your leak is before you recharge the system.
Another problem may be plugging.  Some trash, corrosion, worn seals, etc inside the system has collected somewhere in the system, usually the drier.  This will require replacement.  This is not cheap.

Hope this helps.
