Toyota Repair: Is there a cabin filter in the 2001 Toyota Camry?, toyota camry, cabin air filter

Question
Dear Ted,

Is there an air filter to the cabin of the 2001 Toyota Camry?   If there is, how often should it be changed?  I read in a health magazine about the importance for asthma sufferers to have the cabin filter in their cars to be changed regularly but I just NEVER heard of such a thing.

I had my 2001 Toyota Camry for almost nine years now and I don't think the cabin filter has ever been changed.  Would like to know if it should be changed.  Thank you very much!   Sincerely,

Pablo Durissimo

Answer
I don't think they used a cabin air filter until 2005 but it's easy to check if it has one, open the glove box and pull it down past the stops so it opens all the way, look for a rectangular cover about an inch wide and about six inches long, depress the release clips, the filter is inside the cover and will just pull out.
