Toyota Repair: Toyota Camry Warranty, powertrain warranty, new camry

Question
I am considering upgrading my 2009 camry for a 2011 camry from a dealer offering a 200,000 mile or 20 year nationwide warranty, 0% or 60 month financing, 2 year free maintenance and oil changes for life.  My question is do I need a 20 year warranty on a camry?  I know it is a great car, but in your experience, how many warranty issues have you had?  I would appreciate your commnt as son as possible.

Thanks,
Marie

Answer
I'm not sure the 200K warranty would be worth it, depends on how much it would cost and if you are planning to keep the car for that long, think about it, 20yrs? Most people don't keep cars for more than 10yrs. Keep in mind that it's probably 20yr/200,000 miles, whichever comes first.
If it was me I would opt for a 100,000 mile "extra care warranty" from toyota if the cost was reasonable, also be aware that Toyota's powertrain warranty is good for 5yrs/60,000 miles.
This is a brand new model so I can't speculate what's going to happen down the road but I can say that other than some transmission issues for the 2005-2007, most of which were cured by reprogramming the computer and in some cases requiring transmission replacement, there have been no other major issues with the camry, except of course, the recent gas pedal issues which have been solved for the new models. I think I would take the 0% financing and the free maintenance.
In my opinion the 200K warranty is just a way for them to make up for the financing and the maintenance but don't quote me on that. Good luck and I'm confident you will love your new Camry.
