Toyota Repair: 92 paseo clicking noise, toyota parts, solenoid

92 paseo clicks when trying 2 start, has new battery think it's the starter. I read 2contacts and a plunger can get pitted. Can I buy these parts to replace? Are they part of the starter? Is it best to replace complete starter. Paseo has 175k on it. Thx

Yes, it's best to replace the complete starter but if you con't mind doing some of the work yourself you can save a lot of money. The solenoid contacts can be bought at the toyota parts department, the starter has to be removed and then the solenoid removed then the contactplates can be replaced,there is a round contact strip on the solenoid that is not replaced, just clean this with some sandpaper.
