Toyota Repair: toyota Cresta 91Head gasket, toyota, cressida

Question
Hi I am trying to find the bolt tightening sequence and torgue settings for the head on a Toyota Cresta with a 1G-FE engine.

I would appreciate any assistance

Answer
Haynes manuals are very good sources for general and specific information for particular vehicles; it is a good $15 investment.
I believe the bolt sequence for the 91 is the same as the 92.

Removal sequence: Front 3 7 11 13 10 6 2 1 5 9 14 12 8 4

Re-installation: Front of engine Bolt # 4 8 12 14 9 5 1 2 6 10 13 11 7 3

***CAUTION*** The above sequence must be followed during removal as to avoid warpage of the cylinder head unit.  If you choose to ignore this caution you will have the joy of redoing your head job soon.

Step 1: Torque each bolt in above order to 10 Ft/Lbs.  Wait 10 minutes

Step 2: Torque each bolt in same order to 18 Ft/Lbs. Wait 10 minutes.

Step 3: Torque each bolt in specified order to 25 Ft/Lbs. Wait 15 minutes.

Step 4: Turn each bolt an additional 90 degrees.  Wait 15 minutes.

Step 5: Turn each bolt an additional 90 degrees.  (Not a typo)

New head bolts must be used when cylinder head is replaced or re-installed to obtain proper Torque
