Toyota Repair: Toyota pickup, 22r engine, head gasket

Question
Hello. I found a small Toyota truck fairly cheap. I believe it is a 94 model, 2 wheel drive with the 22R engine. The owners said the head gasket is blown and the oil on the dipstick looks a little milky, not too bad just a little. It has been sitting around 6 months like this. Will the coolant in the oil for that long cause other engine problems? He said it never got hot all the way, just started to then he shut it off. I can pick it up for a couple hundred and was trying to figure out if it would be worth fixing.

Answer
Yes, probably, I would recommend that after buying it drain the oil and put in fresh oil and a new filter and start the engine, check for any engine noises, a blown headgasket will usually produce white steam from the exhaust, these engines were also known for cracked cylinder heads, worn timing chains can also rub through the timing cover letting coolant enter into the oil, be prepared to do a little work and spend some money to make this into a running truck.
